The Peace Route and the marlstones is an accessible driving route between the Arava and Jordan landscapes, with an observation point and a short walk between soft white marlstone rocks!
This 24 km scenic route passes through the Arava and Edom Mountains and connects between Moshav Idan in the north and Moshav Ein Yahav in the south.
The route boasts unique and enchanting desert landscapes of the arid Arava region surrounded by impressive mountains whose color changes throughout the day according to the sun, pass the Sheizaf Nature Reserve, greenhouses and Date groves.
It is recommended to plan a break at Mitzpor HaShalom (the Peace Lookout) near Moshav Hatzeva were you can ‘stretch your legs’ and enjoy a walk in the beautiful desert surrounded by a unique landscape of soft, white and shining marlstones soft rock, whose magical shapes inspire the imagination.
Although this route is beautiful at any time of the day, we recommend a sunset trip where you can enjoy the color of the mountains that turn into dramatic shades of red and are a spectacular contrast to the colors of the soft pale rocks!
How to get there? The route begins at the entrance gate of Moshav Idan, or alternatively on the south side, from Moshav Ein Yahav. You can also access the route via Hatzeva and continue towards Ein Yahav or Idan.
