Sapir Park, a beautiful park, lush in vegitation and a true oasis, recommended by"Map" 2016 is one of the Arava’s most inviting places to visit.
Travel to Emek Ne’elam (the disappearing valley) located about half a kilometer from the Arava Road, where you will discover a large natural lake with ducks and migratory birds swimming in the tranquil blue waters and a waterfall surrounded by lush vegitation and Date trees on its banks.
The entrance to the park has a sculpture garden established by local artists and children living in the Arava region as part of a community project. The area has well-kept spacious lawns, quiet corners perfect for picnics, and most importantly offers lots of peace, tranquility, fresh air and a pleasant atmosphere in the heart of the desert.
Here you can also admire a a unique grove of approximtaely 60 Baobab trees (yes, those mentioned in Antoine Saint Escuperie's renowned book - The Little Prince), and even a light plane that looks like it landed here straight from the stories fo this favorite book!
Stop off at the impressive Thai Pagoda, a gift of the Thai government, and a symbol of courageous, long-standing friendship between the Thai people and Arava residents.
Admission is free! Groups are requested to pre-arrange arrival - 052-6170271.
Our Recommendation: a great place to stop for a picnic and rest at all hours of the day….if you are visiting during the migration season, don’t forget to bring a pair of binoculars!
How to get there? On Route 90, approximately 6 km south of Ein Yahav, near Sapir.
